Firstly, the thickness of door shutter is only 45mm.
Generally, the thicker of door shutter, the stronger the fire-rated performance. In China, thickness of 30mins fire-rated door is at least 45mm, 60mins at least 50mm, 90mins at least 60mm. Secondly, vision panel increases difficulty of the test.
Generally, more than 80% of UL 90mins double leafs fire-rated door with vision panel in the fire resistance test or hose stream test would be failed and thus the test of fire-rated door is very strict on technology of vision panel.
Thirdly, fire-rated door with double leafs increases difficulty of the test.
The fire face of single leaf FR door is mainly in door shutter and door architrave. Seam allowance between door shutters of double leafs door, is the weakest in the fire-rated door tests with strict requirements. In addition, compared with the single leaf FR door, double leafs FR door has more fire face. The greater fire surface, the easier door shutter to distort and sag in the test.
Fourthly, the test of UL fire-rated door has strict standard.
To identify the loss of integrity of fire-rated doors is pilot cotton pad in Chinese Standard, British Standard, European Standard and Australian Standard. It can burn the back of pad over 10s or can go though the gap sonde. Besides referred to standards, UL test includes the door distortion. In addition, the United Stated standard also requires that the fire doors be tested by hose stream test immediately with water pressure up to 207KPa after passing the fire resistance test, while the Chinese Standards, British Standard, European Standard, and Australian standard do not have this item.
