On May 17, 2019, 3rd panel-customized home green ecological chain development forum was held in LuAn in Anhui Province, sponsored by China Timber & Wood Products Distribution Association (CTWPDA), co-sponsored by Yeji Government in LuAn, hosted by Anhui Wood-based Panel Association, Yeji Yasheng Wood Industry Co., Ltd. and LuAn Jinhui Wood-based Panel Co., Ltd.

LIU Nengwen delivered a report on China wood and wood products industry. He pointed out that timber and wood products industry operated steadily in China in 2018, with the annual industrial output reaching 2.18 trillion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 2.83%. The annual volume of commodity wood trade reached 190 million cubic meters, and the consumption of wood was nearly 600 million cubic meters. What’s more, the export of wood products continued to grow, with an annual export value of us $38.512 billion, up by 6.52% year on year. The exports of plywood, particleboard, wooden seat and wooden door increased by 10.22%, 9.38%, 5.55% and 1.8% respectively. Exports of wood flooring, fibreboard and wooden furniture declined by 22.96%, 1.97% and 1.57%, respectively. In 2019, CTWPDA will strengthen investigation, discover hotspots and difficulties of industry put forward policy suggestions, complete the system construction and improve executive force of the association so as to build a branded association and enhance the core competence of the association. And CTWPDA also will actively expand the international market and improve services and abilities of the Secretariat to further promote the healthy development of timber and wood products industry in China.

The decision of the council’s preliminary meeting of CTWPDA was added that LIU Zhenjiang from Zhejiang Liangyou Wood Industry Co., Ltd. and LUO Xinping from China Forestry Material Co., Ltd. appointed for Vice Chairman. Meanwhile, after the application from units, the council decided to appoint YI Zhonghui from Chongqin Xinlianxin Industry Co., Ltd and LI Zhengren of Wenzhou Timber Group Co., Ltd. as Vice Chairman. The forum was discussed about the wood-based panel industry and customized-furniture industry by representatives from the whole chain.

Mr. Wang analyzed domestic economy was better than expected in the first quarter while economy was difficult and complex at home and abroad. The key points of macro economic was that government completes macro policies of counter-cyclical regulating. For example, structural polices should strengthen the systems. Social polices should improve the safeguard function. Structural reform increased support for the three critical battles against potential risk, poverty, and pollution.

QIAN Xiaoyu made a report, Accelerate Green Development of Upgrading Wood-based Panel in China. In 2018, China imported 163,000 cubic meters of plywood, exported 11.338 million cubic meters. Fiberboard was imported 193,000 cubic meters and exported 1,789,900 cubic meters. Particleboard was imported 692,300 cubic meters and exported 231,500 cubic meters. In the future, the trend of wood-based panel industry is intensifying brand competition and increasing rural market demand. With the trends of new consumers and consumption modes, intelligent home furnishing, integrated customization and one-stop service will be a direction.

ALVIN YII HENG KEE, Honorary Secretary General of Malaysia Wood-based Panel Manufacturers Association

Alvin Yii Heng Kee delivered a report about Malaysian wood-based panel industry. In 2017, Asian man-made board production accounted for 60% in the world and exports accounted for 33% so that he believed that China and Malaysia has a promising cooperation. One the one hand, China has rich experience and advanced technology. On the other hand, Malaysia has a good geographical location. Combined with the Belt and Road Initiative, this will be a win-win result. JIANG Jialiang from Investment and Business in Yeji District, Introduced the industry information in Yeji District. After 40 years, timber and bamboo industry, environment and investment prospect in Yeji District has been well developed. For instance, there were over 2000 enterprises in timber and bamboo industry, 50,000 employees, 5 million cubic meters annual timber processing capacity, over ten billion yuan the annual sales income. Yeji District was reputed by “The Home of National Construction Template”, “One of the Fourth Townships of Eastern China”, “Household Industry Base in Central China”, “The Home of Panel in China and so on.

The meeting launched the integrated strategy in Lingang Yuan, Yeji District, LuAn, Anhui Province as it would be closely integrated with timber industry and the Maritime Silk Road Economic Belt, build an express way from forest region in New Zealand through Xinminzhou Harbor to economic zone in Yeji District and ensure sustainable supply of imported timber. The measures will contribute to get through a new channel of port logistics, closely relevant to raw materials, logistics and processing manufacturing, promote trade customs facilitation, build the hinge of the connection, ensure the security of supply of raw materials, promote healthy development of timber industry in LuAn even in central China.

Under the auspices of XING Xiaobo, Secretary General of Wood Industry and Supply Chain Branch of CTWPDA, the development of industrial zones of wood industry in China was discussed by leaders PENG Hua, XIANG Rubing, ZHANG Yuantao, DENG Julian and XING Zhong.

ZHU Guangqian delivered a report on the Prospect of Timber and Wood-based Panel Material, and put forward some suggestions about wood-based panel industry. Firstly, strengthen the investment of foreign forestry. Secondly, improve the quality and added value of plywood. Thirdly, consider import larch veneer and tropical wood veneer. Fourthly, build overseas veneer lathe factory. Fifthly, introduce New Zealand radiata pine to solve the problem of plantation tree species.

SUN Longqiang analyzed the opportunities of domestic timber resources and panel investment, and he believed that the panel investment should be considered from three aspects: resources, market and demand.
